FAQs

What is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC)?

Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) is a designation with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC). RCCs are a group of professional counsellors that are accountable to the BCACC and adhere to the Code of Ethical Conduct and Standards of Clinical Practice. The Clinical Counsellor has met the rigorous academic training, clinical experience, and supervision requirements that are part of the criteria for Registered Membership.

We also have master-level Registered Social Workers on our team who can support you with the challenges you are facing in your life.

What Is Clinical Counselling, Professional Counselling Therapy And/Or Psychotherapy?

In a counselling setting, we talk about anything that is weighing you down because everything you tell me is confidential although there are limits to confidentiality and that is when there is suspected child or elder abuse, imminent risk of suicide or homicide or court order made to subpoena your files.

Every reasonable effort will be made to make you aware if I have to breach confidentiality due to the above limitations before releasing any information.

In counselling, you have the liberty to talk about your feelings, thoughts, goals, behaviours, relationships, dreams, trauma or personal growth.

How often will I come to counselling?

This is totally up to you. We can discuss this during your consult or initial session as well. You can try a session or two or you might find you need to connect with me on a regular basis which could be weekly, bi-weekly, monthly or even once every couple of months. Every client is unique, and depending on your concerns, needs and goals, the number and frequency of sessions will vary.

For specific concerns, clients come for 6-10 weekly sessions, while more complex concerns can require a longer period of therapy. Most clients will start to feel better after their first session. Taking the first step toward self-improvement, awareness and insight could be intimidating but also very comforting.

Do you do direct billing?

Yes, we direct bill ICBC, CVAP, FNHA and many other EAPs.

For all other extended health providers, we issue receipts with clinic name and counsellor registeration information which can be submitted for reimbursement through your insurance company dependent on their plan.

How much do your services cost?

Our services typically cost $140 + tax/session for individual and $160+tax/sesson for couples/family sessions. Many of our clinicians offer sliding scale spots to serve the needs of the community and to support the clients. Sessions are typically 50-60 mins long.

We also have intern and student counsellors on our team, who offer low cost counselling services based on your income and what you can afford. They are not registered with an association or a regulatory body so there services cannot be claimed. They are supervised by their professors at the university and by our seasoned therapists.

Who do you help?

We offer help to individuals, couples and families. Many of our clinicians have additional trainings like GOTTMAN and EFT to support couples. Some of our therapists come with experience from different agencies and health authorities. We also have counsellors specializing in Youth Counselling and have experience as school counsellors.

Can I book a session for a family member?
